Greetings beautiful people
I don’t like putting anything to do with someones death on my blog because there something about it I don’t understand and refuse to face. So this will be one of the rare times you’ll see a tribute in memorial or anything of the sort. Lena Horne was the first woman I gave the “undisputed champion” title to, when it came to beauty. I knew she was a legend, but ignorance befalls me. I knew nothing of her struggle.
I knew she was a singer, dancer, and an actress but knew nothing of her activism. I didn’t know within her lifetime that she was labeled a communist by the United States government. I didn’t know she, at one time, was the highest paid black actor in Hollywood. I didn’t know The Wiz was her last movie. I didn’t know she died yesterday. I suck. Yet I’m learning. Ignorance isn’t always bliss. I’m learning.
The Wiz was the first time I remember seeing Lena Horne and how perfect that she played Glinda the good witch of the West. She was magical. She cast a spell with a song, a dance, a look, and the stand she took. I’m learning magic people. I’m learning Lena Horne.
Till next time beautiful people
